Multiple rounds of strong to severe storms are likely across the D.C. region Tuesday. Have an umbrella ready and allow extra travel time.
Showers and thunderstorms are possible in the morning, followed by a more widespread round in the afternoon and evening as a strong cold front moves through.
7News First Alert Meteorologist Eileen Whelan told Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø Tuesday will be “the most active weather day of the week,” with possible strong to severe storms striking as soon as 2 p.m.
Most of the D.C. region is under a Slight risk for severe weather (Level 2 out of 5), . Damaging wind gusts are the primary concern, though large hail, an isolated tornado and heavy rain that could cause isolated flooding are also possible.
High temperatures will reach the lower to mid-80s with very humid conditions. Storm chances will end between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m., with clearing skies after midnight. Patchy fog and damp pavement may create reduced visibility overnight. Lows will fall into the upper 60s to lower 70s.

Mayor Bowser has activated a Heat Alert for the District of Columbia with temperatures expected to feel like 95°F or hotter. The alert is in effect until 8 p.m. tonight.
Breezy northwest winds and slightly lower humidity arrive Wednesday behind the cold front. Highs will reach the 80s, with wind gusts up to 25 mph. The National Âé¶¹¹ÙÍø Service said a stray shower or thunderstorm is possible , but most areas will stay dry.
Thursday will be cooler and less humid with plenty of sunshine. Highs will reach the lower to mid-80s. Breezy northwest winds continue, with dry conditions expected.
