While D.C. is home to what some would call the most beautiful and majestic buildings in the country like the Lincoln Memorial and the Capitol, it is also home to some of the ugliest in the country, according to a new survey.
According to conducted by home improvement company, Buildworld, the J. Edgar Hoover Building is the top eye-sore building in the U.S. The FBI headquarters was designed and built in the late ’60s and early ’70s. The disjointed building with the drab concrete façade stands out on Pennsylvania Avenue, blocks from the White House.
The results also said the infamous Watergate complex is fourth ugliest.
Buildworld scored the structures by compiling tweets about the buildings’ architecture and counting how many of them were negative.
While the J. Edgar Hoover building took top marks in the U.S., it still fell behind the Scottish Parliament Building as ugliest building in the world. The Ryugyong Hotel in North Korea was deemed the ugliest building outside the U.K. and the U.S.
