Monday will be the hottest and most humid day of the week in the D.C. area, with highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s and heat index values in the mid to upper 90s. A slow-moving cold front could trigger an isolated afternoon or evening shower or thunderstorm, with a brief downpour or gusty winds possible.

Drier, more comfortable air arrives Tuesday with more sunshine and highs in the mid to upper 80s.

Mostly sunny, seasonably warm weather continues Wednesday before shower and thunderstorm chances return Wednesday night and Thursday.
