It’s time to pull out your umbrellas today, with showers and storms expected this morning and again this evening in the D.C. region, with soaring humidity.
The high humidity could fuel heavier downpours, which could lead to isolated flooding. Flood risks are highest along and east of I-95 Saturday, so keep this in mind if your travels take you to the Eastern Shore, according to Veronica Johnson, 7News First Alert Meteorologist.
Even though Saturday will be extremely muggy, temperatures will only reach the mid-70s to low 80s across the D.C. area, which is below average for this time of year, Johnson said.
Additional showers and thunderstorms are expected Saturday evening into tonight alongside a cold front moving into the metro area.
It will be a humid Sunday morning, but the mugginess levels will drop later in the day, as a cold front sweeps through the area. Look out for the possibility of a highly isolated shower or storm as the drier air mass settles in, Johnson said.
Afternoon high temperatures will be in the middle 80s. Much cooler air settles in for a drier back-to-school Monday and Tuesday.
