Memorial Day is gray and damp in the D.C. region with scattered showers and overcast skies as the nation remembers fallen members of the U.S. military.
Monday started wet and foggy in the D.C. area. By the afternoon, rain should become more scattered, but a few thunderstorms are possible as a warm front approaches the D.C. area.
“A few lingering showers and patchy drizzle for the immediate metro area,” said 7News First Alert Meteorologist Steve Rudin. “Southern Maryland could see a few thunderstorms, not expecting anything to become severe.”

Forecast
Temperatures: 70s to 60s
Winds: Southeast 5-10 mph
Low clouds, mist and patchy fog develop this evening as temperatures fall through the lower 70s into the upper 60s. A few heavier showers may linger south of D.C. early, with visibility dropping in spots.
Lows: 60-65
Winds: Light and variable
Cloudy, mild and muggy overnight with patchy fog. A few leftover showers are possible, but much of the night is just damp. Temperatures settle in the 60s. With light winds and plenty of low-level moisture, some fog may become locally dense by daybreak.
Highs: 75-80
Winds: Southeast 5 mph
Another mostly cloudy and unsettled day with scattered showers and a few rumbles of thunder. The best chance for rain comes during the afternoon and evening, especially along and south of I-66. Highs climb into the mid 70s to near 80 degrees. Any heavier shower or storm may bring a quick round of ponding on roads, but severe weather is not expected.
Highs: 77-82
Winds: West 5-10 mph
The active pattern continues with more clouds than sun and additional showers or thunderstorms. The highest rain chances may focus south of D.C. into central Virginia. Highs reach the upper 70s to lower 80s. It will not rain all day, but the atmosphere stays unsettled enough that outdoor plans should have a backup.
Highs: 77-82
Winds: North 10-15 mph
The pattern finally starts to trend drier, especially later in the day. Clouds may give way to a few brighter breaks as the day goes on. A leftover shower is still possible, mainly south of the metro. Highs reach the upper 70s to lower 80s, with humidity slowly easing by evening.
Highs: 73-78
Winds: Northwest 5-10 mph
A better looking day with drier air and more sunshine across the D.C. region. Temperatures stay seasonable with highs in the middle 70s. Humidity feels more comfortable compared to earlier in the week. This should be one of the nicer days, with good weather for outdoor plans.
