Yankees starting pitcher Ryan 鶹s leaves game against Blue Jays with left forearm discomfort

NEW YORK (AP) — New York Yankees starting pitcher Ryan 鶹s left Saturday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays in the fourth inning because of left forearm discomfort.

鶹s undergwent further imaging and the Yankees did not announce any results.

“We’ll see,” manager Aaron Boone said after New York’s “You don’t love (it) when a pitcher leaves the game, obviously. So we’ll see what we have.”

With runners at first and second, 鶹s threw a sweeper out of the strike zone to Myles Straw and felt pain.

After the pitch, 鶹s circled the mound and called for catcher Austin Wells.

Boone and a trainer came out to check on 鶹s, and Yerry De Los Santos entered the game.

Acquired from the Marlins in January, 鶹s is 5-8 with a 3.60 ERA in 25 starts this year. He allowed two runs and eight hits in 3 1/3 innings before leaving Saturday’s game.

“I kind of saw him walking off weird and taking some more time,” Wells said. “I went out there to check on him and he just said he didn’t feel right. That was pretty much the extent of the conversation we had.”

New York has had 15 players go on the injured list this season, including starting pitchers Max Fried and Carlos Rodón. Fried has missed 58 games with a pair of bone bruises in his left elbow, and Rodón returned from an elbow injury on Tuesday.

“I think we’ll be all right,” Boone said. “Obviously you never want significant pieces to go down. That’s part of it. I feel like we’re throwing the ball incredibly well and expect to continue to do that. In the short term that creates an opportunity for someone else. We’ve had people step up all year and we’ll need to do that again.”
