WASHINGTON — A Prince George’s County man is after the infant he’s suspected of abusing died of his injuries.
Lenwood Pearson, 48, of Capitol Heights, Maryland, was with first- and second-degree child abuse after paramedics were called to Pearson’s home Sept. 13 and discovered his critically injured step-grandson.
The baby died Sept. 16. An autopsy revealed the cause of death was trauma to the baby’s head, and his death was ruled a homicide.
Police said they believe the infant was injured while in Pearson’s “sole care and custody.”
In addition to the manslaughter and child abuse charges, Pearson is facing first- and second-degree assault charges. Pearson has been arrested and is being held in the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
