FREDERICK, Md. (AP) — Recycling trucks won’t be going out any more frequently in Frederick.
The Frederick News Post (http://bit.ly/1paWFqX ) reports the city’s Board of Aldermen on Wednesday decided it wouldn’t be worth it to increase the frequency of recycling service from twice a month to once a week at a cost of more than $700,000 a year.
Before making the decision officials looked at data, including the fact that about half of the time a county recycling truck stops at a Frederick home, the blue recycling bin isn’t out on the curb.
The data showed that homes with bins put them out on the curb at a rate of about 51 percent. The superintendent of the county’s Department of Solid Waste Management says that’s compared with a countywide rate of about 76 percent.
