WASHINGTON – Rapper Nas has helped raise thousands of dollars for a D.C. father who lost his house to a fire two weeks ago.
that the musician’s help is in response to the station’s story about single father Stanley Young and his eight children. They are currently staying in a hotel and are looking for a new home.
“I am also a single father, and we don’t get enough credit in this country. I’m committed to helping Stanley and his eight (yes 8!) kids. Moreover, I believe and hope that we should all, as a community, come together to help our fellow American men and women when they need us in desperate situations like this. See if you can’t find a few dollars to help the Youngs get back on their feet with me,” Nas wrote on the funds for the family.
He pledged to double his $5,000 contribution if the site raised at least $20,000. As of Thursday evening, Nas had raised slightly more than $29,000.
