WASHINGTON – The FBI and Metropolitan Police Department are looking for a well-dressed man who robbed a local bank last week.
According to police, a white man entered the TD Bank at 1753 Connecticut Ave., NW, near Dupont Circle just before noon on Friday, Oct. 5. He approached the teller and gave a note demanding money.
“Simultaneously, he set an object on the counter that he indicated was a bomb,” said FBI Special Agent Dave LeValley.
The man was in his late 20s or early 30s, wore a business suit and tie, dark sunglasses and a Nationals baseball cap, LeValley says.
“It’s almost as if someone was on their lunch break and decided to rob a bank,” said LeValley.
After leaving the bank, the man fled the scene in a taxi. The FBI and police hope the cab driver who picked him up will contact them.
