WASHINGTON — D.C. police arrested a man who is charged with the murder of his 5-week-old son Monday.
Robert Smith Sr., 28, is charged with first degree murder in connection with the death of 5-week-old Robert Smith Jr. that occurred on Aug. 4, 2015.
Police say they responded to reports of an unconscious person at a home on the 3700 block of 9th Street Northwest August 4.
When police arrived, they found the baby boy unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for Washington, D.C. determined the baby was beaten to death.
