EPA chief Scott Pruitt resigns

WASHINGTON — Environmental Protection Agency chief Scott Pruitt has resigned, President Donald Trump tweets.

Trump tweeted Thursday that he had accepted the resignation of the scandal-plagued EPA chief.

Trump wrote that Pruitt “has done an outstanding job, and I will always be thankful to him for this.”

Deputy chief Andrew Wheeler will take over as acting administrator Monday, Trump said.

“I have no doubt that Andy will continue on with our great and lasting EPA agenda. We have made tremendous progress and the future of the EPA is very bright!,” Trump tweeted.
