AU freshman struck by car dies

WASHINGTON — An American University student struck by a car earlier this week has died.

The university extended its condolences to the family of 19-year-old Kenneth Clarke, who was a freshman in the School of International Service.

Clarke was struck by a car near the Friendship Heights Metro station at the intersection of Wisconsin and Western Avenues.

His parents, who are pastors in the United Methodist Church, asked for prayers in a Facebook post, sharing that the teen suffered critical brain injuries.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at American University’s Kay Chapel.
