WASHINGTON 鈥� For what police said was a two-day series of armed robberies last year, it took a jury 23 more days to convict a D.C. man.
Using a stolen Audi, 25-year-old Tyrone Hunter held up eight people and damaged a handful of other cars, the jury found. He was found guilty Wednesday of a list of charges, including robbery, eluding police and reckless driving.
Prosecutors called 50 witnesses in the five-week trial, which revealed the details of Hunter’s crimes.
On Jan. 15, 2017, investigators said Hunter stole a gray Audi sedan from a parking garage on K Street Northwest, several blocks from Union Station. Over the next two days, officials said Hunter used the stolen car as a getaway vehicle as he robbed eight people at gunpoint across D.C.
When officers spotted Hunter driving the stolen car in February 2017, he led them on a chase and crashed into a number of vehicles, investigators said.
Hunter will be sentenced in May.
