WASHINGTON — No need to fly to Austin, Texas: A version of the festival hosted annually in the southern city is coming to D.C. this fall.
In a released statement, the White House announced “South by South Lawn,” a festival inspired by its Texan counterpart that plans to feature short films, host panel discussions with “influencers” and have musical performances. The lineup has not been released. Â (Perhaps President Barack Obama’s may give a sneak peek to a potential lineup.)
But before you start pitching tents on the South Lawn, the only way to attend the event on Oct. 3 is to be nominated. Â until Sept. 10 at 5 p.m.
Both the president and the first lady spoke at events during South by Southwest in Austin in March.
