A relatively quiet start to the evening, but shower and thunderstorm chances will gradually increase after sunset as the next disturbance approaches. The better concentration of storms should remain north and northeast of D.C., closer to the Pennsylvania/Maryland line, but a few could make it into the metro area. Temperatures fall from the mid 80s early into the upper 70s by late evening.

A few showers and perhaps a thunderstorm remain possible around and shortly after midnight, then chances decrease toward daybreak. Any stronger storm could produce locally heavy rain, although the greater coverage should stay north and northeast of the immediate D.C. area. Otherwise, it stays warm and humid with lows in the low to mid 70s inside and around the beltway.

Most of the daylight hours around D.C. should remain dry, although shower and thunderstorm chances begin to increase again as the next weather maker approaches. Highs climb to the upper 80s to lower 90s, and the humidity will make it feel more like the mid to upper 90s during the afternoon.

Mainly dry through much of the evening with partly to mostly cloudy skies. Clouds increase overnight as the next weather maker and approaching cold front move closer, with the chance for showers beginning to increase toward daybreak Friday.

The most unsettled day of the stretch as a cold front crosses the Mid-Atlantic. Showers become more numerous during the morning and afternoon, with scattered thunderstorms also possible later in the day. The overall severe weather threat remains low, but it is not zero. Any stronger storm could produce locally damaging wind gusts, and isolated flooding cannot be ruled out where heavier rain develops. Highs reach the lower to mid 80s.

A noticeable and very nice change arrives to start the weekend. High pressure builds to the north, bringing dry air, lower humidity and plenty of sunshine. It will also turn a little cooler, with highs generally in the upper 70s to mid 80s across the region. Winds will be light, generally from the north and northeast before becoming easterly during the afternoon. Overall, Saturday looks like the pick of the weekend.

Moisture begins to return as high pressure moves offshore, and winds turn out of the south. Much of the morning should remain dry, but clouds increase and the chance for showers and thunderstorms returns during the afternoon and evening. Exactly how widespread the storms become will depend on the track of the system moving through the Great Lakes and how quickly deeper moisture returns. Highs reach the upper 80s to lower 90s.

Warm and humid with another chance for showers and thunderstorms as the unsettled pattern continues. There may be a few showers around earlier in the day, but the better opportunity for thunderstorms looks to come during the afternoon. Highs climb to near 90, with heat index values reaching the mid to upper 90s. Winds northwest around 5 to 10 mph. Drier air is expected to begin working back into the area by Tuesday.
